Description

It’s a sweet. It’s a treat. It’s a cupcake. It’s a ladybug.

Ingredients

  • 24 whole Frosted Cupcakes, Store-bought Or Use Your Favorite Recipe
  • 48 pieces Regular Nilla Wafer Cookies
  • 24 pieces Mini Nilla Wafer Cookies
  • 1 package (about 2/3 Oz. Package) Icing Gel
  • 1 bottle (about 2.25 Oz. Bottle) Colored Sanding Sugar
  • 48 pieces Large Round Sprinkles (for The "eyes")
  • 48 pieces Pretzel Sticks

Preparation

Bake and frost your cupcakes as usual.

On a piece of parchment paper (it makes clean up THAT much easier), lay all wafers flat.

For the wings: Squirt icing gel onto each cookie. Use your finger to cover the entire cookie with a thin even layer. Once covered, roll in sanding sugar. Place in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

For the face: Using the icing gel, create 2 small round dollops. Place large round sprinkles in the center of each dollop. Place in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

Assembly: Take frosted cupcake and place (2) “wings” atop, vertically. Roughly half of the cookie should be sticking out. Place the “face” on the edge of the cupcake, in between the “wings.” Insert two pretzel sticks directly above the “face” for the antennas.

Note: I made these for a Baby Sprinkle that I hosted. I was able to make the “wings” and “faces” days in advance for easy assembly the day of.
