Loved this cake!! Just a touch different than a regular chocolate cake. The Dr. Pepper adds a whole ‘nother dimension!!

I made this cake last weekend for my 10 year old son’s birthday party. We also had PW’s Red Velvet Cake. This cake was gone before the Red Velvet!! My son and I regularly order Chocolate Dr. Pepper when we go to Sonic so when I saw this recipe I just had to try it out. I have never made a cake this way (cooking everything in a saucepan first). The cake was delicious but I think if I make it again I will try it without the icing and I will bake it in a Bundt pan. My GrandMom used to make Coke cake and 7Up cake when I was little and I remember them having no icing and being Bundt cakes. Thank for a great recipe!!

I’m eating this right now. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate (yes I know, gasp/faint), but this is gooood. It is indeed way more moist than your usual cake – in fact it took twice as long to bake as the recipe claimed. This might just become my go-to recipe for brownies, since it’s so ridiculously moist, and I tend to like brownies more like cake anyway. For the frosting, I halved the amount of butter, cocoa, and milk, and used 1 cup of confectioner’s sugar. That gave me a light glaze rather than a true frosting, and it was not too sweet. Perfect.

Wonderful! I am usually nervous to make a cake from scratch. I seem to always have better luck out of the box, but this turned out great. The glaze makes this. I am not a huge fan of frosting, so this is perfect. Sweet, but good. And even with all the cocoa powder in this recipe, it is not too chocolately. I think this would make a great sheet cake recipe. Might try that next time.

My kids friends request me to make this for their birthday. It is a huge favorite. Thank you so much for sharing.

I really enjoyed the flavor of this cake but I thought the frosting got very grainy after it cooled. The icing goes under the bottom of the cake as well. The frosting is very smooth while warm but has a very grainy texture when cooled. I just thought it maybe needed a smoother frosting, I’m just not sure how to achieve that…

This was a super moist cake and a big hit with everyone who tried it. I was a little disappointed that the Dr. Pepper taste wasn’t really present in the cake itself so I used Dr. Pepper ice cream topping in the frosting to give it just a hint of that flavor. I made it in a bundt pan so I adjusted the baking time accordingly. Thanks for the recipe. It was super fun to make.

Just made this and it’s sitting cooling with the icing on it. I have to say the batter was yummy LOL as was the icing.
Defintely going to be a favourite around here!

I’ve made this three times in less than a month! Once as cupcakes and a full 9″x13″ for my mom. I made an 8″x8″ to take to a friend who loves Dr. Pepper and just had a baby.

Just made this tonight after having seen the recipe in March! Good things come to those who wait – it’s yummy! This will serve as husband’s birthday cake this weekend. Also have to take something chocolate for a fellowship at church, this will be my go-to recipe now. I made it in a jelly roll pan to made it thin, and it did fine. Will try it in 13×9 next time around! Thanks for a great recipe!

I followed the recipe that printed out…it states to bake for 20-25 minutes…which turned out to be 45 minutes once completed. Now looking back – it states you have 2 conflicting bake times. Definately won’t make again….too sweet and it came out very dense and heavy!
