Description

A chocolate lovers dream! Double chocolate cake with a fudge filling and frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 box (about 18 Oz. Size) Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • ½ cups Milk
  • ½ cups Butter, Melted
  • 3-⅞ ounces, weight Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • ½ cups Chocolate Chips
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • 4 ounces, weight Semi-sweet Baking Chocolate
  • 8 ounces, weight Whipped Topping, Such As Cool Whip Or Tru Whip

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a mixing bowl, beat together dry cake mix, sour cream, eggs, milk, melted butter and pudding mix. Beat well until fluffy and smooth. Stir in chocolate chips.

Pour batter evenly between the cake pans. Bake 30–32 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cakes sit for approximately 10 minutes before removing from pans. Then cool completely on wire rack before frosting.

For the frosting:
In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate for 1 minute. Stir. Add whipped topping and microwave again for 30–45 seconds. Stir again. Be sure chocolate is fully melted and smooth. It should be mixed completely with whipped topping. Refrigerate for approximately 15–30 minutes or until set and thick.

When frosting is ready, frost one layer of cake. Top with second layer and frost with remaining frosting.
