Description

These sweet treats make your mouth melt with their chewiness and how good they are. My grandma made this recipe. I don’t know if it’s from scratch, but it sure does taste like it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cups Margarine
  • ⅔ cups Melted Shortening
  • 4 cups Quick Quaker Oats
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ cups Corn Syrup
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • ⅔ cups Peanut Butter
  • 1 package (12 Oz. Package) Chocolate Chips

Preparation

First layer:

Mix together the flour, granulated sugar and the margarine. Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch cake pan with the first layer and bake 7-10 minutes in a 350F oven. Remove from oven.

Second layer:

Pour melted shortening (or butter) over oatmeal and combine. Add the salt, vanilla, corn syrup and brown sugar and stir together. Pour over the first layer and bake for 10 minutes in the oven on 425F. (We kept it on 350F because we have a convection oven and it turned out fine,;you can just leave it at 350F if you please.) Remove from the oven and cool.

Third layer:

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt together the peanut butter and the chocolate chips. When the first and second layers are cooled, pour the melted peanut butter and chocolate over them and spread evenly.

Refrigerate until solid, cut into squares before serving. This recipe makes a lot depending on how you cut them and how many you eat before serving them.
