Description

A dark fudgy brownie with a hint of coffee liqueur.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Plus 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ½ cups Plus 2 Tablespoons Dutch Processed Cocoa
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ cups Coffee Liqueur (or Strong Cold Coffee)
  • ¾ cups Flour
  • 1 cup Baking Chips Or Nuts (optional)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
3. Add sugar and whisk mixture until shiny.
4. Remove from heat, add cocoa, salt, baking powder, vanilla, egg and liqueur.
5. Stir in flour.
6. Fold in any chips or nuts.
7. Pour batter into a 10×7 or 9×9 baking pan.
8. Bake for 23-26 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 1 inch from the side comes out fairly clean.
9. Cool completely and cut into squares.

These are yummy! Even though I only had bread flour on hand, these brownies came out moist and fudgy.

(The directions don’t say when to add an egg, but I added it early on, before putting in the dry ingredients.)

I had to make the recipe non-dairy, but it still turned out great. I added a chocolate-coconut milk frosting. yum!

The brownies were definitely fudgie and moist, very dense and altogether yummy. I did not get much coffee flavor, but I used cold coffee instead of coffee liquor, so perhaps that is why. I sprinkled the top with marshmallows before baking (kinda squish em into the top a little) and it added a nice toasted marshmallow flavor! It was a VERY easy recipe! Oh, and I added the egg in step 4.
