  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 whole Egg White
  • _____
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar

Preparation

Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Beat egg yolk in a measuring cup; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well; stir into the flour mixture.

On a floured surface, roll half of the dough to a 17×12-inch rectangle. Fit into and up the sides of a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking pan. Sprinkle the crust with cornflakes; top with the apples. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly on top of the apples.

Bake at 375 degrees for50 minutes.

Once out of the oven, mix the powdered sugar and milk and drizzle the frosting over the bars.

Rather than using corn flakes I used oats which turned out well. I also used many different types of apples most of which were not tart and the dish was still great.

This is such a good fall dish!!! I have made this for two different groups of friends and they both love it. The crust is flaky just like a pie crust. I will be making this many more times.
