Description

Looking for a new kind of brownie? These crunchy Nutella brownies are super yummy and extra crunchy! A rich, fudgy brownie, topped with chocolate, Nutella, and rice cereal to give it a delicious crunch!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BROWNIE LAYER:
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet (or Dark!) Chocolate Chips
  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter, Cut Into Pieces
  • 1-¾ cup Sugar
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Flour
  • _____
  • FOR THE NUTELLA LAYER:
  • 1-½ cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1-½ cup Rice Cereal

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9×13 pan with lightly greased foil.

In a large glass bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and butter for 30 second intervals until melted. Stir between each interval and continue heating for additional 30 second intervals until smooth.

One at a time, add the sugar, eggs, vanilla, and flour. Make sure to add in each ingredient one at a time, stirring until combined before adding the next ingredient. Spread the mixture into your prepared pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are completely set. Do not overbake (the middle will not be completely set)!

Take the brownies out of the oven and set the pan on a rack to cool. While they are cooling make the Nutella layer.

In a medium-sized glass bowl, microwave the chocolate chips, Nutella, and butter for 30 second intervals, until melted. Stir between each interval and continue heating for additional 30 second intervals until smooth. Let the mixture cool for 2-3 minutes. Then stir in the rice cereal.

Immediately spread the Nutella mixture over the brownies.

Cool brownies completely before enjoying (you can put them in the refrigerator to speed this up if you can’t wait to eat them!).

Makes 16 large brownies.

Ok…. I don’t know whether I want to hate you or marry you! These are evil in the most amazing way!
Usually I find brownies a little boring, but with the texture components and the perfect, rich, chocolate depth these are honestly the best brownie I have ever had.
My waist line tells me I must share but I honestly don’t want to!
I used dark chocolate and close to doubled the rice krispies (because I knew I’d want the crunch!) but otherwise followed the recipe exactly.
Thank you!!

I can’t go back to regular brownies now… thank you very much. I have the overwhelming urge to make a batch of these, and hide them in the back of my closet, because that’s my new happy place… eating these, hidden from pawing little hands, and a hungry husband. Mmmmmm…. the bottom portion is so incredibly light and perfect, and the top layer is soooo dreamy. I know I should really be more descriptive or diplomatic… but dreamy is all you get. For those of you who are THINKING of making these…. get to it… and understand why dreamy is the only word left, and even that is inadequate.
