Description

This is a yummy, easy “candy” that I make every year around Christmas time! It’s a big hit at parties and always leaves people asking me for the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter, Melted, Plus A Little Extra For Greasing The Pan
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 package Saltine Crackers (use 40 Of Them In The Recipe)
  • 1 package Chocolate Chips (12 Ounce Bag)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a 13 x 9 baking sheet with foil and lightly coat it in butter (not the butter amount that’s called for in the recipe — just enough so the crackers won’t stick to the pan once they’re cooked).

Line the pan with a layer of crackers, breaking them if necessary so they all lay evenly on the foiled pan.

Melt the butter and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil (usually takes about 3 minutes).

Pour the mixture over the crackers and bake in the oven for 8 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the top of the crackers with chocolate chips, spreading evenly.

Let it cool and then break the crackers up into pieces.

I did something Wrong! Spray foil with pam & had to peel off the tin foil, what I could. When I took it out of the freezer it got sticky quick & was a mess. Any suggestions what I did wrong?

Love this stuff! I think my recipe called for brown sugar instead of white, though I’m sure it’s good either way!
