Description

The recent purchase of an ice cream maker is yielding all types of ice cream flavors, including this one, the classic cookies and cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Milk, Cold
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 10 whole Oreo Cookies, Crumbled

Preparation

Freeze your ice cream bowl prior to starting your recipe, as it is very important that it is completely frozen.

Begin by adding the milk and sugar to your mixing bowl, and mix with a whisk until all of the sugar dissolves. Add in the vanilla extract, and the heavy cream. Assemble your ice cream maker, and turn it on, adding in your mixture.

Let the mixer spin for at least 30 minutes, adding the crumbled Oreo cookies about 25 minutes into mixing. Place the bowl back in the freezer for at least an hour, or in my case, overnight. Scoop and and enjoy.

I will admit, and I believe the kids will admit as well, this could have possibly been the best ice cream I have ever had. There was something about the texture, and how coarse the cookies were crumbled, that made this cookies and cream really divine. Hope you enjoy.

This is ridiculously embarrassing, but your instructions saved our ice cream maker from the dump! We inherited this (our first) ice cream maker sans instructions. After a few epic fails, I read your recipe. Doi! Freeze the bowl! Thank you!

My family loves this recipe. We mix in the cookies after the ice cream is made. There is no gray color when you do it this way. We also use the basic mix to make different flavors of ice cream. Love how easy it is!

alot of cookies and cream ice creams in the stores are sort of grey – didnt stop me from eating! this was a quick and easy recipe. if i had read to crumble the cookies (duh!) it would have been better. we have the ice cream attachment for our kitchen aid and this filled it just enough.

I followed the recipe exactly, and my ice cream maker was slightly overfilled once the mixture was aerated and frozen.

And I let the machine churn for about 5 minutes after adding in the cookies, and the mixture took on a more gray color. It still tasted great, but I was hesitant to serve up gray ice cream.
