Description

My husband is a team roper. Often when he is off at a jackpot, I make this wonderful cake. If he won, then it’s “Congratulations! I made you a cake!” but if he didn’t, then it’s “Sorry! Have a piece of cake and feel better!” Who doesn’t love very chocolatey chocolate cake?

Ingredients

  • 1 package Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 package Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix (3.9 Oz)
  • 2 cups Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Melted Butter
  • 5 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1 package Belgian Chocolate Chips (or Other Chocolate Chips If You Don't Have Belgian)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 10-inch bundt pan, even if it is nonstick.

In a large bowl, stir together cake mix and pudding mix. Make a well in the center and pour in the sour cream, melted butter, eggs and almond extract.

Beat on low speed until blended. Scrape bowl, and beat for 4 minutes on medium speed. Blend in chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake in a preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

This is absolutely delicious and extremely rich! A small slice goes a long way.

HAHAH! My mom makes this recipe but calls it Hang It On The Wall cake. I never knew why exactly but you are so correct that a small slice is all you need. So moist and rich. Thanks for posting this for everyone! She wouldn’t let me post our recipe!
