Description

An easy, no-bake, holiday version of the rice cereal treat that never lasts long on the cookie platter.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Corn Flakes
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 10-½ ounces, weight Marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon Green Food Coloring
  • Red Hot Candies, Optional

Preparation

Place cornflakes in a large bowl. Set aside.

Place a couple sheets of wax paper on the counter top and lightly butter them. (The wreaths are quite gooey and will stick to the paper if not buttered.)

Keep a butter dish handy to butter your fingertips before forming each wreath.

Melt butter and marshmallows in a microwaveable bowl using medium power in 45-second increments, stirring each time. Once melted and smooth, stir in food coloring. Pour marshmallow mixture over cornflakes. Stir to coat flakes.

Set about 1/2 cup marshmallow/cereal mixture on wax paper. With buttered fingertips, create a hole in the center to form a wreath. Dab fingers in butter and repeat, moving quickly as the marshmallow-cereal sets up quickly.

Recipe makes about 12 wreaths.

Decorate with Red Hot candies, if desired. Store in an airtight container on wax paper.

Note: Red Hots may be manufactured in a facility that also produces peanuts and would not be safe for those with tree nut allergies to consume.

I just LOVE that someone else is making these! We had these every Christmas growing up and they were the favourite :) I tend to get a little crazy with the green food colouring even though I know how bad it is for you… oh well, you only live once!
