Description

Best chocolate cake I have ever put in my mouth. Sinful and heavenly all at the same time. Perfect to serve a lot of people because it makes an entire sheet pan.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 cups White Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • 2 whole Eggs, Slightly Beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • _____
  • FOR THE ICING:
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 6 Tablespoons Buttermilk
  • 1 box (16 Oz. Box) Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In medium-sized bowl, combine first four ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, and soda). Set aside. Bring the butter, cocoa, and water to a boil and pour over the flour mixture. Add the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.

Bake for 15 minutes.

While cake is baking, prepare the icing. This cake is not the same (definitely not as good) without this icing.

Melt the butter. Add cocoa and buttermilk. Bring mixture to a boil. Add the powdered sugar and the vanilla.

When the cake comes out, spread icing over and let sit so the icing gets firm. Enjoy!

Note: be patient. Follow the steps and let the ingredients boil. This cake is amazing but must be done right.
