Description

A classic no-bake treat with a fresh citrusy twist! Very more-ish…

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BASE:
  • ½ cups Butter
  • ¼ cups Granulated Sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • 1-½ cup Chocolate Cookie Crumbs (like Oreo)
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Coconut
  • FOR THE ORANGE FROSTING FILLING:
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 2-½ Tablespoons Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
  • 2 cups Icing Sugar
  • FOR THE CHOCOLATE TOPPING:
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips, Semisweet Or Dark
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

Preparation

BASE: Melt butter, sugar and cocoa together, over low heat in a saucepan or in the microwave. Remove from heat. Add beaten egg, then add Oreo crumbs and coconut and mix until well combined. Press into the bottom of a parchment paper lined, or greased, 9×9 inch baking pan. Refrigerate while you prepare the frosting layer.

ORANGE FROSTING: Using an electric mixer, beat together the frosting ingredients until smooth. Spread evenly over bottom layer, and refrigerate to set for about an hour before adding the chocolate topping.

TOPPING: Melt chocolate and butter together over low heat, or in the microwave (microwave the mixture for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between each heat burst), just until the chocolate is melted. Spread quickly and gently over chilled frosting layer. Return to fridge until the chocolate sets. I usually set my timer for about 30 minutes so I remember to score the chocolate before it is completely set. This will help to avoid cracked tops…not that they won’t taste just as delicious with a couple pieces of cracked chocolate!

these bars are to die for . I love the whole melding together of orange and chocolate. Took it a step further and added 2 teaspoons of orange zest. Amazing. Put the coffeepot on!
