These cookies, affectionately known as chocolate crinkles around here, are moist, dense, and incredibly chocolatey. Their one vice? There’s no way that you can “sneak” one…you can’t eat them without getting covered in powdered sugar!
Melt the unsweetened chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. If it isn’t melted yet, heat for additional 30 second increments, stirring in between each 30 second heat burst. Mix oil, melted chocolate, and sugar. Blend in 1 egg at a time until mixed. Add vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine salt, flour, and baking powder; add to the chocolate mixture. Chill for several hours.
Put the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl or plate. Shape tablespoons of the chilled dough into balls and roll the balls around in powdered sugar until covered. Place the cookies 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
