Description

Chewy bar cookies that will be a hit at your next bake sale!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter, Melted And Cooled
  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs (large)
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups Rolled Oats, Not Quick Cook Or Instant
  • 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cups Dried Montmorency Cherries

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease a 9X13 inch baking pan. Line with parchment if desired.

In a large mixing bowl combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat with an electric mixer, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is slightly fluffy and lighter in color. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add this to the sugar mixture and mix on low speed until thoroughly combined. Add the oats, chocolate chips and dried cherries. Stir well.

Spread the batter into the baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes, do not over brown. Let cool then refrigerate before cutting.
