Description

These Chocolate, Cherry and Oatmeal Bars are thicker and a bit chewier than your average granola bar. Super easy and delicious, too!

Ingredients

  • 3-½ cups Rolled Oats (quick Cooking Oats)
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar
  • ¾ cups Honey, Divided
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ⅔ cups Unsalted Butter, Softened
  • ½ cups Sliced Almonds
  • ½ cups Dried Cherries, Chopped
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Morsels

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325ºF.

In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon and brown sugar and stir to combine. Add 1/2 cup honey, vanilla extract and butter and incorporate into the dry mixture. Add the remaining 1/4 cup honey. Add the sliced almonds, dried cherries and chocolate morsels and stir to incorporate.

Line a 8-inch x 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Add the mixture into the prepared pan and firmly press into the pan using your hand or a flat knife. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool completely on a cooling rack. Once cooled, cut into bars or bite-size pieces.

Enjoy!

We LOVED these! We did not even wait for the batch to cool! My daughter thought I was trying to shove healthy stuff on her, but with one taste she to loved them….it will be my secret that I used whole wheat flour, put in flax seed(ground) and wheat germ to recipe…..THANKS for the recipe.
