Description

A tasty pastry!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • ¼ ounces, weight Quick Rise Yeast (1 Pkg)
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Milk
  • ½ cups Butter, Softened
  • ¼ cups Water
  • 1 whole Egg
  • _____
  • CHOCOLATE FILLING:
  • ¾ cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • ⅓ cups Evaporated Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar, For Sprinkling On Top

Preparation

DOUGH (first 7 ingredients):

In a bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a saucepan, heat milk, butter and water to 120°-130°. Add to the dry ingredients and beat just until moistened. Add egg and remaining flour; beat until smooth. Shape into a ball. Do not knead. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

FILLING (next 5 ingredients):

In a saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, milk and sugar. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon.
Roll dough into a 14-in. x 11-in. rectangle on a large greased baking sheet. Spread filling down the center third of the rectangle.

On each long side, cut 1-in. strips about 3 inches into the center. Starting at one end, fold the strips alternately at an angle across the filling. Pinch ends to seal. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.

Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the pan to a wire rack to cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
