Description

A family friend gave this recipe to my mom years ago. I loved when my mom made these cookies, they are to DIE for!!

Ingredients

  • 1-¼ cup Butter, Room Temperature
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ¾ cups Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • Powdered Sugar, For Dusting

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).

Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla and blend well.

Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
Add flour mixture to creamed butter mixture and mix thoroughly.

Drop batter by teaspoonful onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake cookies for 8-9 minutes, do NOT over bake! Sprinkle each cookie with powdered sugar. Remove from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. They will flatten out a lot after cooling.

Very quick and easy and delicious. I use the recommendation below and did 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup dark brown and also added a few chocolate chips. It was perfect for a school pot luck!

I’ve used this recipe for years except I use 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar. I always add 3/4 cup of mini chocolate chips and sometimes I’ll add white chocolate chips as well. Finely chopped walnuts are a great addition as well. This recipe goes together so quickly and the cookies are awesome!
