Description

The yummy flavors of chai tea baked into a soft and chewy sugar cookie.

Ingredients

  • 2-¾ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¾ teaspoons Ground Cardamom
  • ¾ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cloves
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 cup Butter, Softened
  • 1-½ cup Granulated Sugar, Plus More For Rolling Cookies
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Preparation

Mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl; set aside.

Beat butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture, on low speed of the mixer, until well mixed. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours, or until dough is firm and easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in additional granulated sugar. Place balls about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 6–8 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks and cool completely.
