Description

When first married, I sold Tupperware. One of my hostesses served this to her guests, and I asked for the recipe. It has been one of my favorites since 1976.

Ingredients

  • 32 whole Caramels, Unwrapped
  • 5 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Quick Cooking Oatmeal
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Butter, Melted
  • 1-½ cup Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cups Broken Pecans

Preparation

Melt caramels in milk. Cool slightly, set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.

Blend flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, salt, soda and butter until crumbly; divide crumbs in half. Press 1/2 mixture in a 7×11 inch BUTTERED pan. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

Sprinkle baked crust with chocolate chips, nuts and drizzle melted caramels over. Sprinkle with remaining crumbles. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Serves 15.

These are so good! I’ve seen them on different sites with caramel ice cream topping, all made easier since the original version came out I am sure. BUT they are nowhere near as good as these! I’ve tried the other recipes, these are much more ‘caramel’ and chocolate flavored!!!

Made these this weekend for a family get together, kids and adults loved them! Even the mother-in-law raved about them! Thanks for sharing.
