This has been described by my nieces and nephews as “fruity s’mores.” Simple, easy and fun.
Slice bananas down their length and open slightly like you would with a hot dog bun. Sprinkle marshmallows and chocolate chips into each banana. Break the wafers into bite-sized pieces and place on top of the filled bananas. Drizzle with caramel. Wrap each banana in aluminum foil and place on the coals at the edge of your campfire. Allow them to cook for 10-15 minutes. Remove with a pair of long-handled tongs and allow to cool. Unwrap and serve!
This can also be done on a grill, in a toaster oven, or a conventional oven. Just preheat to roughly 350ºF, wrap with the foil and place directly on the grill or rack and let cook for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat, allow to cool and serve.

The photos looks a little gross, but I promise that after a long day of hiking these really hit the spot. I like to leave my nilla wafers whole and use them to scoop out the roasted banana.

If you leave them on too long the marshmallows will liquify and then vaporize. If you put them directly on the coals or over high heat you will probably only need to cook them for 5-10 minutes.
You can substitute your favorite chopped up candy bar for the chocolate chips and your favorite cookie or cracker for the nilla wafers.
