Description

A fresh berry crisp with blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, and pear (or the fruit of your choice!), dolled up with some brandy (or the booze of your choice!). Bright, sweet, and crispy, it really hits the spot!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Berries Of Your Liking
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¼ cups Brandy Or Booze Of Your Liking
  • ¾ cups Flour, Divided
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • ⅔ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 7 Tablespoons Butter, Cubed And Chilled

Preparation

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 9″ pie plate (or similar-sized vessel) with baking spray.

2. In a bowl, combine the berries, sugar, lemon juice, alcohol, and 1/4 cup of flour. Set aside. (If you want to save on dishes to wash, you can just mix this directly into the pie plate.)

3. In a medium bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to combine, then cut in the butter with a pastry blender, a fork, or even your fingers, until it comes together into small crumbles.

4. Pour the berry mixture into the pie plate, then sprinkle the crisp mixture over the top. Bake for 1 hour, or until the crisp is a golden brown and the berries underneath have made a bubbling, thick syrup of deliciousness. Let cool for 15 minutes. You might want to place the pie plate on a baking sheet in case the fruit bubbles over, creating a total mess in your oven.

This is derlicious! I used brandy as suggested; it gives it sort of a softe taste. The variety of spices also adds to the flavor greatly. Thanks for a truly different version of this popular dessert!!
