Description

Dark brown sugar meets butter and flour for a quick “from scratch” recipe that promises much more payoff than effort. Try Blonde Butterscotch Brownies sprinkled with powdered sugar or add dark chocolate chips, ice cream, and hot fudge or caramel sauce for an “over the top” treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter, Melted
  • 2 cups Dark Brown Sugar, Lightly Packed
  • 2 whole Eggs, Lightly Beaten
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Plain Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans Or Walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (optional)
  • ¼ cups Powdered Sugar - For Dusting Cooked Squares
  • Caramel And/Or Hot Fudge Sauce, For Topping (optional)

Preparation

Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.

In a large bowl, add the butter and microwave until melted. Then add the brown sugar and mix well. Add the beaten eggs and vanilla to the brown sugar and butter mixture. Blend well, then add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir to blend. Add nuts and/or chocolate chips if desired.

Pour the batter into a lightly greased 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. When brownies cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares.

Variation: skip the powdered sugar and serve warm blondies with warm caramel and/or hot fudge topping and vanilla ice cream!
