Description

A yummy, super easy brownie recipe. My mom made these when I was growing up. They are perfect to take to a pot luck and disappear almost instantly!

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cups Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot Water
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2  Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Or More As Desired (see Note)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a large saucepan over low heat melt the butter. Add the hot water and brown sugar and mix to combine. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Then add the eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add the dry ingredients (everything except the chocolate chips) and mix well. Spread mixture in a greased 9″ by 13″ pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes in a 350 F oven. Brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool and cut into bars.

Note: I use closer to 1 cup of chocolate chips on top.

These were not exactly what I was looking for – they’re more cakey than chewy – definitely use the larger amount of chocolate chips.
