Description

I came upon this recipe awhile ago, and frankly, I wish I hadn’t. It is so addictive, delicious, and easy. Everyone requests it for special occasions now. I love this more than I love my wine.

Ingredients

  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Cloves
  • ½ teaspoons Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
  • 2 cups Applesauce
  • 2 whole Eggs, Beaten
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil
  • 1 stick Butter, Melted
  • 1 package (12 Oz) Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a bundt pan.

Whisk flour through pepper together (dry ingredients plus sugar). Whisk in applesauce, eggs, oil, and butter. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Pour in the pan and bake for about one hour and fifteen minutes, or until a toothpick comes out almost clean. Let cool. This is really delicious served with creme fraiche. I apologize for introducing you to this.

Yep, it’s a good thing you apologized before I tried it. It’s very addictive, and wonderful! The batter was such a light color, that it was kind of shocking to see how dark brown the cake turns. It ends up almost the same color as Boston brown bread. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. : )
