Description

This is my husband’s favorite pie and one we always look forward to in the fall. The recipe makes 2 pies because one is just not enough!

Ingredients

  • 2 whole 9" Pie Crusts
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Clear Jel
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups Water
  • 8 whole Tart Apples
  • _____
  • FOR THE CRUMB TOPPING:
  • 1-½ cup Flour
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter

Preparation

Prepare two of your favorite pie crusts and place them in 9″ pie plates. Preheat oven to 350F.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. In a bowl, combine clear jel, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add water, stir well, and then pour into butter and stir. Heat until boiling and thick. Remove from heat and set aside.

Peel, core and shred the apples. Stir apples in with the cooked filling and pour into the prepared pie crusts.

For the crumb topping, combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut butter into dry ingredients until you have fine crumbs. Sprinkle over the pie filling and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
