These delicious cookies are a new favorite. The recipe was passed down to me from a dear friend. While I usually just use apple, the raisins and walnuts are a nice addition when I have them on hand!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and grease a large cookie sheet.
In a large bowl, mix the shortening, light brown sugar, and egg.
Next, add in 1/2 cup of milk. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in another bowl. Then add half the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture; blend well. Add the apples, nuts, and raisins and the remaining dry ingredients and blend once again until it is a thick creamy consistency.
Drop onto the greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes. This recipe will yield about 24 cookies.
Once cookies have cooled, mix together powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, salt, and milk in a small bowl. Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the cookies and enjoy!
