Description

Delicious apples and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Canola Oil
  • ¼ cups Orange Juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 3 whole Granny Smith Apples, Peeled And Sliced Thinly
  • _____
  • FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR:
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ¾ Tablespoons Cinnamon

Preparation

First, mix the cinnamon sugar. Combine 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon, and set aside.

Sift together in a large bowl: flour, baking powder, salt.

Preheat oven 325 degrees F.
Beat the eggs lightly, then add oil (see note below), orange juice and vanilla. Beat until well-mixed, then add sugar. Beat until well-mixed, then add sifted flour and mix well.

Pour half of the batter into a well-greased tube pan. Arrange half of the sliced apples on top (you’ll probably need at least two layers of slices), then sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar. Repeat.

Bake for 1.5 hours. Let cool for at least 30 minutes.

Note: you can reduce the fat content by substituting some or all of the oil with an equal part of unsweetened apple sauce.
