Description

It’s always gone in a flash. Everybody loves almond puff.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BASE LAYER:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 stick Margarine, Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons Cold Water
  • FOR THE SECOND LAYER:
  • 1 stick Margarine
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Flavoring
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • 1-½ cup Icing Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Flavoring
  • 1 Tablespoon Warm Water
  • ¼ cups Sliced Almonds

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Prepare the base layer:
Mix together the flour and margarine, then add the water. Divide into 2 parts. Pat into 2 strips each about 12×3 on a large cookie sheet.

For the second layer:
Bring margarine and water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond flavoring and flour. Place back on low heat and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball, about 1 minute.

Remove from heat; add eggs and beat with a mixer until well blended. Divide into 2 parts and spread over the base layer. Bake 1 hour. Cool completely and frost.

For the frosting:
Beat the frosting ingredients except almonds together well. Spread on puff, and sprinkle with almonds. Cut into 1″ slices.
