Description

Glorified chocolate chip cookies. This recipe was passed around the hospital in which I used to work, and has been modified plenty of times. This recipe is much easier with a food processor and a stand mixer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2-½ cups Oats
  • 2 cups Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 12 ounces, weight Bag Of Chocolate Chips
  • 4 ounces, weight Plain Chocolate Bar, Grated
  • 1-½ cup Chopped Nuts, Any Kind

Preparation

Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.

Grind oats till a fine powder. In a separate bowl, combine ground oats, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

Combine all ingredients. Add chocolate chips, grated chocolate bar, and nuts if so inclined. I use Ghiradelli chocolate for both the chips and the bar. You can add more gratings to make it richer. I use a food processor for the chocolate bar. It makes life easier.

I put the bowl in the fridge for a little bit to help it set up. It makes scooping easier.

Place golf-ball-sized cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for six minutes.

They will appear unfinished. They are better if served cold and left in the fridge.

These cookies are delicious! I added butterscotch chips along with the chocolate chips and chocolate bar. I didn’t chill the dough, but they turned out great!
