Description

Homemade hot dog toppers for the plate of frankfurters on your Super Bowl table.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Chuck
  • 1 whole Finely Chopped Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ¼ cups Tomato Paste
  • 5 Tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 piece Bay Leaf
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 6 Tablespoons Corn Meal
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil

Preparation

Saute onion and garlic in oil until golden. Add chili powder, sugar, and cumin. Stir for 1 minute, then add in beef. Brown the beef.

Stir in remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Use a potato masher and slightly mash the chili until nice and thick.

Makes about 20 servings.

This was fantastic! I was out of straight corn meal so I used masa instead, but it was still great on both hot dogs and fries.

Great recipe for hot dogs or even frito chili pies! The consistency was just right…maybe a bit more broth was needed in my batch, but other than that it worked out great!

This was indeed the Ultimate Hot Dog Chili!! It was the perfect consistancy to my liking. I added some red kidney beans and corn since I just ate it in a bowl with some onions and cheese on a cloudy day. I will definitely make this again! Thanks for sharing!
