Description

Homemade strawberry topping. Really easy, and can be used with several things.

Use with strawberry shortcake, on yogurt, on French toast … it’s endless.

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (16 Oz. Package) Fresh Strawberries
  • 3 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 cup Sugar

Preparation

Wash strawberries and remove their tops.

Cut up half of the strawberries into chunks, and then add sugar and vanilla in a large bowl. You might need to use less or more sugar depending on how sweet the berries are to begin with.

Take a potato masher and go to town on those chunks of strawberries. Trust me, this will make them release tons of juice and smashes ‘em up nicely.

Now take the rest of the strawberries and hull them if you want; if not, then just slice them up into the bowl and mix everything together.

Cover with plastic wrap or place in an airtight container and store in the fridge.

Trust me, this is really yummy as strawberry shortcake, with pound cake and homemade whipped cream. Or use it as a topping on lots of different items!

Sometimes, for grown up versions of things, I will substitute a liquor in for a bit of the vanilla.
