Description

It took me about a year to tweak this sauce to my family’s liking but they say it tastes so much better than store bought BBQ sauce and won’t eat any other.

Ingredients

  • 29 ounces, weight Tomato Puree
  • 1-½ cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ½ cups Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Liquid Smoke
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 2-½ Tablespoons Ground Mustard
  • 1-½ teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Minced Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon Celery Seed

Preparation

Measure and add all ingredients in a large saucepan. Whisk together until all ingredients are mixed. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmered uncovered 20 to 40 minutes or until thick and dark, stirring often.

Remove from heat and let cool. Pour into a container and store in the fridge or freeze.

Makes about 4 cups.

I loved this BBQ sauce! It had the perfect balance of sweetness and tang, plus the celery seeds made it awesome. Thanks, Jen!
