Description

A semi-homemade BBQ sauce. Spicy and sweet.

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cans (12 Oz. Can) Cola
  • 1 whole Chipotle Pepper Rinsed And Diced Finely
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Balsamic Sea Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ whole Small Onion, Diced Finely
  • 1 clove Garlic, Diced Finely
  • 12 ounces, fluid Bottle Bbq Sauce

Preparation

Take the bottle of BBQ sauce and pour it into a medium saucepan. Add the cola, chipotle pepper, garlic salt, cumin, balsamic salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Let it reduce for about 10 minutes on low heat. It will bubble a lot at the beginning as the soda cooks down. Add the onion and garlic. Let it reduce further until it becomes the consistency you like. It took me about 30 more minutes on low.

The sauce started out very sweet straight out of the bottle. You would think the cola and balsamic salt would make it sweeter, but it really doesn’t. The cumin gives it a hint of smokiness and chipotle has a nice burn at the very end.

Please make sure to add the specific SIZE of the bottle of BBQ sauce when you make the correction. We want to make sure folks get the right ratios when making this cool sauce!

Sounds lovely! But the instructions call for a bottle of BBQ sauce, and that isn’t in the ingredient list. Could you please make the necessary correction? Thanks!
