A good beer for beer bread is Home Brew, Porter, PA, IPA or Belgian. A stout or dark beer will give a darker bread with a heavier flavor. I have used Bass Ale, IPA, Beck’s, Guinness Stout, Shiner Bock etc. Happy baking!

I tried, quite literally, dozens of french bread recipes before I stumbled upon this one. It is amazing, just like the loaves you pick up at your local grocery store, only better!

This truly is an easy bread to make and always gives execellent results. Mix in one step—no proofing the yeast. Just mix all of the ingredients together and let it rise, shape into loaves and bake. Every slice has wonderful texture that will hold up to garlic butter or cheeses. This makes excellent toast, croutons, sandwiches, panini or panzanella. Makes two nice size loaves—one for you and one for a friend!

A light, soft, all-purpose sort of bread. I use half of the dough for a loaf and make the other half into rolls. Good stuff!

These are always a huge hit. People usually eat them until the pain of a full tummy makes them stop. They are that good.

Yes, these loaves take two hours to rise, but it’s not like you have to watch ‘em. They are worth the time and so much better than store-bought bread. While they’re rising, go ride your bike or clean a closet.
