This jam is so easy and so yummy! Our local grocery store had cranberries on sale so I tried a new jam. The recipe is a keeper!

Take advantage of all the winter citrus fruit that is available and make this delicious marmalade recipe. You can use any combination of citrus you might have on hand.

When life gives you over-ripe bananas, don’t go conventional, make Banana Curd instead! It’s creamy, dreamy and ohhhh so rich! Great as a spread alone but also great in fillings for desserts, rolls or just use your imagination! This is by far the best tropical curd!

This festive, sugar-free alternative to jam exudes luscious winter warmth. Spread it on walnut bread or your favorite whole-grain toast. If you’re feeling adventurous, butcher a pumpkin, steam the flesh and use the puree so you can brag about it to your friends! Makes great holiday gifts.

I have done this many times. It’s great. My husband likes to add some to his coke.

Can I use this extract in all the recipes? I’m afraid for Vodka…
Tks for your reply

Is this as rich as the vanilla you buy? would you use the same amounts as called for in recipies? Thank you.

Ciao Roby! Yes you can. I’m not an expert ; ) but to my knowledge alcohol is used to make all pure vanilla extracts. Some people use Rum, others Bourbon, Vodka, etc. Hope that helps.

Ciao DoriDori! Yes I use the same amount as I would for storebought Pure Vanilla Extract. After the 8 weeks of steeping they’re a beautiful dark hue & smell divine!

i LOVE to make my own extract. Usually I use bourbon instead of vodka. The flavor is out of this world!!

Got some of this for Christmas for a neighbor. I just ordered my vanilla beans to make my own! Thanks for the recipe!

I also do this at home and it is wonderful! I usually keep a bottle in the back of the cabinet and try to forget about it for a few months. Would love to start another one with bourbon!

I have seen this recipe before and have a couple friends who make their own. They use 6 beans to the bottle of [RUM] and just remove enough of the RUM to not over flow the bottle. slice the beans like the recipe above, place into the RUM bottle and place in a cool dark place for 2 months.
If you can get a hold of some of the mini bottles of ‘Airline’ alcohol bottles they would probably take 1/2 a bean and make a great party favor.

I’ve been wanting to do this for sooooo long! I have two questions…
1. What do you mean by slicing the pod so the beans don’t come out? Is it obvious once you get the bean ? (I’ve never sliced a bean before)…
2. I read from other vanilla extract recipes that you can top off with your choice of alcohol when it is running low and your beans can last for years…any experience with that?
