Description

Tastes like apple pie in a jar.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Tart Apples, Chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • 4 cups White Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 box Dry Pectin
  • 1 teaspoon Butter

Preparation

Measure apples in a measuring cup. In the same cup, add water to fill up to the 4-cup line (with the apples in it). Put into a heavy saucepan. Add pectin, butter, spices and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.

Add sugars and bring back to a full rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and skim off any foam.

Ladle into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/4″ headspace. Put on lids, and process in a water bath for 10 minutes.

Can’t wait to try this! I made it this afternoon. We usually use stuff like this on crepes or waffles. Husband said it smelled great! This recipe made 8 jars, but it may have been because I used an apple peeler/corer and then chopped it up (so it was smaller than usual).
