These were great. I did double the recipe. The mix kept great in the fridge a few days before I could get to making the rest. Put extra in the freezer…..they were great!

I loved these! They were light in color and in taste and I was happy to find a homemade waffle recipe that tasted great without using a cup of melted butter. Next time I might add a tablespoon or two of sugar to the batter to add a touch of sweetness (although after I put the syrup on top, that didn’t seem as necessary.) Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

These were awesome! My boys inhaled them! Thank you so much for a great recipe. My 4 year old is the pickiest eater ever!
I did add about 3 Tablespoons of sugar. I also added about a teaspoon of vanilla.
We ate about 1/2 of what this recipe made. The rest I flash froze and put in a Ziploc bag into the freezer. So much better than store bought frozen waffles!

These waffles were terrific. I used buttermilk for my batch and my family LOVED them. My 6 year old likes them better than store-bought frozen waffles. This recipe makes a lot (for my family of 4) and they freeze beautifully.

Perfect, fluffy, golden waffles! I made half the recipe since there are only two of us. I will be using this recipe again and again!

I do believe that this is the best homemade waffle recipe I have ever used. I just have to figure out how I can work some blueberries into it! Very light and fluffy; the recipe is easily doubled and vaishes quickly! My children loved them! My new breakfast waffle recipe!

I made a half recipe on Christmas (it’s just my boyfriend and me) and they were delicous! My boyfriend is already asking when I can make them again. As others suggested, I added sugar and vanilla (3 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla for a full recipe) to the recipe, and the waffles were perfectly sweet with the blueberry compote we made.

I will definitely make these again. (ok, so partly because neither of my belgin style waffle makers would work once I got batter made) but waffles were perfectly delicious in my 18yr old heart waffle maker. I used all buttermilk and think next time I’ll do half milk & half buttermilk. Also added 1TBL brown sugar . . . cause thats about all that was left in the bag after making candied bacon! yum. Delicious breakfast for dinner. Thx!

Soooooooo much better than bisquick . . . thank you for the great recipe.
I added a couple dashes of cinnamon & sugar to make my honey’s favorite waffle (heart shaped of course).

Do you use the egg yolks too?
Sweetpea Nancy on 6.26.2010
Yes, the egg yolks go in with the rest of the ingedients. Sorry if this wasnt clear in the directions above. Hope you enjoy the waffles!

We make waffles, from scratch every weekend! I can’t wait to try this. I made Emeril’s recipe for Belgian waffles and while delicious, so much work and dirty dishes! these look wonderful!

When this was posted to the blog, one of the pictures mentioned (in the caption) adding baking soda. I see that isn’t part of the original recipe. Do you recommend adding that as well? And if so, how much? TIA
Sweetpea Nancy on 1.6.2011
NOTE: There is only Baking Powder in this recipe and NOT Baking Soda. When the recipe was featured on the blog, for some reason the person added the Baking soda and my original recipe did not have that. I do not add Baking Soda to my recipe.
