These waffles have a unique ingredient added to them. Take a look and see what you think. You might be very surprised.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • ¾ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Nestle Carnation Malted Milk (Original)
  • 2 whole Eggs, Separated
  • 1-¾ cup Milk (or Buttermilk) - More Or Less Depending On Texture
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ cups Peanut Oil

Preparation

In a large bowl, mix together the flours, baking powder, salt, and malted milk.

In another bowl, mix together the egg yolks, buttermilk, vanilla, and peanut oil. Add to the dry ingredients.

In a small bowl beat the egg whites until stiff. Fold carefully into the rest of the mixture.

Bake according to your waffle maker’s instructions. Remove waffles carefully.

Serve with peanut butter, butter, maple syrup, or regular syrup. Enjoy!

These are really good. Very fluffy and light. I don’t keep peanut oil on hand, so I used vegetable oil. We did raspberries and almonds as a topping once and so i substituted almond extract for the vanilla. It was also yummy, but I think next time I will only use 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
