Description

This is a Christmas morning staple that I got from my grandmother. You can chill the dough overnight, so it makes an easy breakfast or brunch addition!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • ¾ cups Milk (or Enough To Make A Stiff Dough)
  • ⅓ cups Cornmeal
  • 3 Tablespoons Shortening (4 If You Like)
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 pound Pork Sausage

Preparation

Combine all ingredient except sausage to make dough.

1. Roll out dough into a rectangle.

2. Spread evenly with sausage.

3. Roll it up like a jelly roll.

4. Optional: Chill overnight (this is very convenient, and I think that they taste better this way!)

5. When ready to cook them, slice the dough into thin pinwheels.

6. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes.

Hint: They taste great dipped in mustard!

Is the sausage cooked before you roll it up?
