Description

This is my grandmother’s recipe for “hotcakes.” It makes wonderfully fluffy pancakes each and every time! Melt in your mouth delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • ⅓ cups Oil

Preparation

Start heating up the griddle on the stove. If using an electric griddle, set the heat setting to 350ºF.

Mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl.

Pour batter onto the hot griddle in 1/2 cup measurements. Cook on one side until all bubbles stop coming up and “popping” before attempting to flip the pancake.

Flip each pancake only ONE time.

Spread butter on top of the flipped side while the bottom side of the pancake is cooking for best results.

Serve warm with your choice of syrup.

These are AWESOME! Definitely my go-to pancake recipe from now on! My husband and son just love them and I make them once a week now :) Thank you!

This is wonderful! Just last night I was looking at my grandmother’s recipe book and this recipe is almost the exact same as her “hotcakes” recipe! Don’t you just love the recipes from grandma! :)

These are so delicious! I only tried them because of the name (who can resist a grandma’s recipe?) and I’m so glad I did. They’re really fluffy and they have just the right amount of sweetness. The only change I made was to reduce the salt since I was using salted butter. I really loved them plain with barely any syrup. That’s a good recipe!

These are so good! I just made them this morning and my girls loved them (as did I). I used skim milk so they were pretty thin. Next time I’ll use a 2% milk and maybe just a little less.

I also added chocolate chips – AWESOME!
