OH MY GOODNESS. Syrup isn’t just for breakfast anymore! My 15 year old eats naked pancakes but she agreed to try this for me. She’s hooked! We also used it as a topping with angel food cake and whipped cream. Yum. The only reason it didn’t end up on ice cream was because we were out. Hint: Don’t forget about the foaming up business if you need to reheat it. Someone who shall remain nameless didn’t give it a second thought. Fortunately I, oops- SHE- knew it would only take a few seconds in the microwave otherwise it could have been a worse mess.

My sister has been making this for years and I just got hooked. Yes, I lick it right off the spoon!! It is amazing. We will never do regular syrup again!

YUM! I served this on waffles to my husband, who isn’t much of a breakfast person, and generally prefers fruit to syrup. He took one bite and said “This is amazing.” ‘Nuf said.

Wow. My picky son and I ate this on french toast for dessert, I mean breakfast! It is absolutely delicious and so easy to make. This is a recipe that will get repeated in my house.

I love this recipe SO much! It is my go to syrup recipe. I don’t like maple syrup much, so this recipe is perfect! It tastes like caramel. I can’t wait to try it on ice cream.

Holy Yum!! I like it best cold when it’s thick and a little chewy! Is it bad that I ate it with a spoon?

I can’t thank you enough for this easy recipe that is so tasty. Im about to make a second batch. One of my children does not like maple syrup and thought this was awesome. I tried it with some warm buttered bread and nearly passed out. Thank you!

Question: what kind of Karo syrup are you using? I want to try this, too, but want to purchase the right Karo. Thanks!

How long does this keep? And where is the best place to store it?

I have a quick question please. Do you know why you have to add the baking soda? It’s just my husband is really picky and he could still taste it after it was all cooled down and then reheated (next day) so of course wouldn’t eat it. Is it for thickening? If so I wonder if you could use corn starch instead?

I made this recipe this morning for waffles and it was delicious. There was some left and the taste is great cold. I think this would be wonderful as an ice cream topper. Thanks for sharing!

I made this and the baking soda taste was just too strong….I’ll make this again and cut the baking soda way down. I always do something for the kids, so next time I’m going to color it —purple or green.

Hi Liza! My family LOVES this syrup. When I saw it first time, on PW’s blog, you suggested serving it over something… some sort of fried donut. Where can I find that recipe? It was such a hit, that I would like to make it again.
Thanks!
