Description

These spiced mini donuts make a delicious breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE DONUTS:
  • 1-½ cup Sifted Cake Flour
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1-¼ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ⅛ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • 1 whole Egg, Lightly Beaten
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Butter
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ cups Sugar

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a mini donut pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Add buttermilk, egg, and butter. Stir until just combined.

Use a plastic sandwich bag (or pastry bag) to pipe the batter into the donut cups. Fill about halfway.

Bake for 4 to 6 minutes, until the top of the donuts spring back when touched. Let cool slightly before removing from the pan.

Next, make the glaze. Melt the butter in a shallow bowl. In a separate shallow bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar.

Dip one side of each donut in the melted butter and then into the cinnamon and sugar mix. If you’re feeling crazy, dip both sides! I love that sugary crunch.

Serve and enjoy!

These are delicious! I made mine in a mini-muffin pan and they turned out perfect – two-bite nuggets of dense, moist and not overly sweet cake. I had enough butter and cinnamon sugar to dip the tops and bottoms of all donuts (yielded 20).
