Description

Many granola recipes call for some funky ingredients, but this one is pretty simple and many of the items you may already have in your pantry. “Granola cruncher” approved!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Rolled Oats
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons Wheat Germ
  • ½ cups Nuts, Roughly Chopped
  • ½ cups Dried Cranberries
  • ½ cups Dried Apples (or Other Fruit), Chopped
  • ¼ cups Honey
  • ⅔ cups Applesauce (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon Canola Oil

Preparation

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper (or nonstick cooking spray) and preheat oven 325ºF.

Mix dry ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl. Put honey in a medium-sized microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds to liquify. Add applesauce, vanilla, and oil to warm honey and stir well. Add wet ingredients to the large bowl and stir well until all dry ingredients are coated.

Pour mixture onto parchment-lined baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 15 minutes; stir. Bake an additional 15-20 minutes and check again. Return to the oven if edges haven’t turned brown yet, checking every few minutes. Once edges turn golden brown, it’s done.

Granola firms (gets crunchy) upon cooling. Allow to cool on baking sheet then pour into an airtight container for storage.
