Description

Bite-sized pieces of French toast. This recipe uses the ends of the bread loaf. In fact, it is best if you do use them, otherwise it can get a little too mushy.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices Bread (use The Ends Of The Loaf)
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter (or Margarine), Plus More To Taste
  • Maple Syrup To Taste

Preparation

Cut bread into bite-sized pieces.

In a medium or large mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar until combined. Toss bread cubes into egg mixture to coat.

In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add coated bread cubes and cook until well done. If desired, melt more butter and toss bread to coat.

Add maple syrup to coat or drench (depends on your taste).

These sound like a great modified version of monkey bread! You can’t go wrong with that!

yum! I added a bit of vanilla because I looooovvveee vanilla. also mine didn’t turn as pretty because I “dumped” instead of tossed the cubed bread into the egg mixture. they kind of stuck together when I cooked em but it was still good. after tossing with maple syrup I sprinkled with some powdered sugar to make it look better, lol.

I was looking around our bare kitchen wondering what we would have for breakfast and then I found this recipe. It is very simple, quick, and easy. My 18 month old daughter, who turns her nose up at everything, was crying for more. I couldn’t feed them to her fast enough. This recipe will make a regular appearance at our house. Thanks!

My daughter thinks she doesn’t like french toast, so I thought this sounded like a great way to disguise it. It was super easy, super fast, and tasted really good–and she liked it! I just wish my final product looked half as good as the picture.

Tried this last weekend, I thought it might be too sweet for my husband, who doesn’t like anything too sweet for breakfast, but it was perfect. Thanks for the recipe!
