Description

Easy fool-proof poached eggs that are delicious every time!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • Kosher Salt To Taste
  • Black Pepper To Taste
  • A Few Fresh Thyme Leaves (Optional)
  • Buttered Toast, To Serve

Preparation

Bring a small pan or pot with water up to barely a simmer. You want tiny bubbles on the bottom of the pan (do not bring to a boil!). Add in the vinegar.

Crack an egg into a small dish. With a spatula, make a circular motion in the water to mimic a whirlpool and carefully slide the egg into the center.

From the moment you slide the egg into the water, set a timer for 4 minutes. This is the magical time needed to make a perfect poached egg.

After the timer beeps, use a slotted spoon to remove the egg. Let it hover over the pan so the hot water can slip through the cracks of the spoon and off the egg.

Sprinkle with salt, pepper and fresh thyme alongside buttered toast.

Enjoy!

I am a beginner cook who makes LOTS of mistakes, and even I made this right the first time! The recipe is easy to follow and leaves you with a perfectly cooked egg. I loved the addition of thyme; it is a spice I don’t use often, and it was delicious! Thanks, Laurie! :)

Poached eggs have been a favorite of mine since childhood. This recipe works perfectly and the eggs look like Martha Stewart would be serving them. So easy and foolproof! Thanks for letting us know the perfect time is 4 minutes and to put them in when there are little bubbles in the bottom of the pan!
