Description

Baked donuts for breakfast. Perfect for the eggnog fan of the house!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE DOUGHNUTS:
  • 2 cups Flour
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¼ cups Applesauce
  • ¾ cups Eggnog (not The Light Stuff)
  • FOR THE ICING:
  • 1-½ cup Powdered Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon Rum Flavoring
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, blend flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Beat in egg, applesauce and eggnog.

Grease and flour donut pans (makes one dozen). Pour batter into a large Ziploc bag. Snip off the corner of the bag (take a big snip) and squeeze batter into the donut pan evenly. Bake in a 325 degree F oven for 10-12 minutes, until donut springs back when lightly pressed.

Remove donuts from pan immediately and allow to cool.

To make glaze, beat powdered sugar with eggnog and rum flavoring for about 2-3 minutes. Dip tops of each donut into glaze. Immediately sprinkle with a TINY pinch of nutmeg. Enjoy!
