Description

Yummy berry overnight French toast. No syrup required.

Ingredients

  • ¾ loaves French Bread (store Bought Is Ok)
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 2-¼ cups Whole Milk
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, Packed, Divided
  • 1 cup Chopped Walnuts
  • 1 cup Blueberries
  • 1 cup Strawberries, Sliced
  • ¼ cups Butter

Preparation

Lightly butter a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

Slice bread loaf into 2- to 3-inch thick slices. Place the bread slices evenly in one layer on the bottom of the dish.

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and 3/4 cups of the brown sugar. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, making sure to completely coat the surfaces. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and chill for at least 8 hours, or overnight.

Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

Sprinkle the walnuts and blueberries/strawberries evenly over the bread. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining 1/4-cup of brown sugar and butter until the butter is melted. Drizzle the butter/brown sugar mixture over the bread.

Bake the bread mixture for 20 minutes, until liquid is bubbling and the bread is lightly golden. Dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
