Description

Geesh! I just listed half the ingredients in the title!

I grew up with banana bread being brown, so to this day it has to have a little whole wheat in it, just to darken it.

This banana bread is how I remember banana bread.

Makes 2 loaves.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BREAD:
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Bananas (about 3 Mashed Bananas, Depending On Size))
  • ½ cups Sour Cream
  • ½ cups Nuts (walnuts Or Pecans)
  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup White Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Chia Seed (optional)
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 1 Tablespoon Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

For the bread:
Mix all the wet ingredients together (butter, sugar, eggs, bananas, sour cream), then add the nuts, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Chia seed is something I add at this point to be healthy but it is not necessary.

Spray or lightly grease 2 regular size loaf pans. Put half the mix in each pan.

For the topping:
In a separate bowl, add flour, cinnamon, and sugar. Mix the butter in with a fork. Pour the crumbly mix on to the top of each of the loaves of the banana bread.

Bake at 350ºF for 50 minutes.

Have yet to try this, but half the recipe makes about half a loaf pan…perhaps this recipe is instead for one loaf?
