Perfect for Easter breakfast!
Read the highlights of John 19 aloud to your family. Set up an assembly line of marshmallows, melted butter, bowl of sugar and cinnamon, and crescents.
Explain that the marshmallow represents Jesus’ body. Dip it in butter and then roll in cinnamon sugar, and talk about the how Jesus’ body needed to be prepared for burial. Back in Bible times, Jewish tradition was to do this with oils (butter) and spices (cinnamon and sugar). Then the body would be wrapped in linens. (Wrapped in the crescent roll.)
Tuck and roll tightly, being careful to seal all edges tightly. This will not be a crescent shape, but a round mound. Place on baking stone and bake 375ºF for 12 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool out of the children’s sight. As the rolls cool, the marshmallow will shrink and disappear.
Give the children their roll, and allow them to open it. The “tomb” is empty! He is risen!
